Update

If nothing else is of any use, this site can at least contribute something to flag knowledge 😉

Gerakini again?!?

... Yup! What can we say — we’re repeat offenders ... with sunscreen. 😎

📰 What’s new?

A few things have actually changed — not just the sun’s position. ☀️

Sad news first: last year’s new face, Leonidas, is no longer at the Possidona Beach hotel.

He was super friendly, helpful, and always had a smile. We were genuinely sad about that. 😢

🥙 Restaurant update 1 — Oasis gone silent

The shock ran deep: Oasis has closed — for good! 💔

Vassily, the owner, retired. And the landlords? They didn’t want a restaurant there anymore. Maybe a parking lot instead. Or a roundabout. We don’t know.

Here are the sadly documented proof photos (please sigh quietly while scrolling):

🍽️ Restaurant update 2 — Anemomilos, but different

New owner, new menu, new vibe — but our heart belongs to the former owner. ❤️

We still went there often — because even though the menu now feels modern and streamlined, we do miss a bit of that old “mixed-grill charm.”

By the way, the (young) waiter is not only extremely friendly, but also, let’s say: visually a bonus. 😏

🍕 Restaurant update 3 — Marco Polo instead of moussaka

Marco Polo: A culinary detour into the world of pizza & pasta — right in the middle of Greece.

Not a must-have for us on vacation (we’re Team Souvlaki), but other guests raved about the starters. So: a matter of taste!

When I asked about fresh fish, the server said: “Too early in the year.” I specifically asked if she didn’t mean: “too early in the day.” 🐟

BUT: The house wine — 5 euros per half liter! Priced somewhere between a gift and “don’t tell your accountant.” 🍷

SeaAccess — barrier-free & brilliant

Big kudos to Gerakini: there’s a professional setup here for barrier-free access to the sea.

The so-called SeaAccess was developed at the University of Patras — and looks like a mini amusement-ride for connoisseurs. 🎢

  • Wheelchair-friendly path: from the sidewalk to the sun umbrella
  • Spacious changing room: easy to maneuver and use
  • Rail system with seat: independently rides into the water

In Germany? We’ve never seen anything like it. Point for Greece! 🇬🇷

🔥 Fire planes — live in the air

For a whole day we thought Tom Cruise himself was filming Part 3 of Top Gun: Greece Edition. ✈️

Two water bombers flew in formation, scooped seawater at low altitude, and released it elegantly back into the sea — training maneuvers against wildfires.

  • Tight looping turns: sweeping arcs over the water
  • High‑speed scooping: water intake at full throttle
  • Right-overhead pass: about 50 m above us! I was so mesmerized the camera went into shock‑freeze mode. Note to self: train those reflexes. 📷

📍 Conclusion — why we keep coming back

Gerakini is small — but mighty. And somehow different every time. 🔄

Even if familiar faces disappear (Leonidas 😢, Oasis 😭), new impressions bring a fresh breeze. From barrier‑free sea chairs to charming waiters — it’s all here.

And honestly: at 5 euros for house wine, we’ll happily stay an extra two weeks if needed. 🍷😉
